You really can’t go wrong with accommodations in Curtea de Arges, but family-run Pensiunea Ruxi, sitting inconspicuously across from Hotel Confarg, is exceptional. The rooms are new and comfortable (though the walls are smidge thin). Never mind that, the real treat is the homey atmosphere, where the family will go to heart-breaking lengths to take care of you. Daughter Ruxandra speaks passable English and sweet taking her will likely win you access to her computer for a quick, gratis email session. A home cooked breakfast is two euros and is served on in front of the TV, with remote control at the ready. Just like home.

I've seen a lot of hotels in Romania. More than I even want to think about now, but this place will forever stick in my mind as being the best value hotel in Romania. Rooms are all large, clean and modern. Doubles have huge tubs and the suites are admirably swanky for the price. Breakfast is served in a top-floor glassed dinning room. Sauna and well-stocked fitness centre are available, but indulging in those amenities would mean leaving your suite, which will be difficult.
