Mamaia Hotels/Hostels

Check out the Accommodations in Constanta page for info about shacking up with the locals that meet you at the Constanta train station as a budget alternative. Most of these unlicensed pensions will be a 15-20 minute maxitaxi ride from the beach. Camping is no longer allowed on the beach in Mamaia proper, but there's a site to the north of the beach.

Hours: 10am-9pm (mid-Jun-mid-Sep)
These guys have lists of available accommodation. Booking hotel rooms here (or through any travel agencies or tourism offices) can save you as much as 15% on the rack rate.

All properties listed here include breakfast unless otherwise noted.

Flora Hotel

Double without breakfast 26 euros
Doubles with breakfast 22.50 euros

Victoria Hotel
Tel. +40 (0) 241 831 028
Singles 31.50 euros
Doubles 36 euros
These nearly identical, neighboring properties are just behind the beach, within staggering distance of Mamaia’s legendary revelry. The rooms are no-frills, but clean. Attention econo-travelers; do as the Romanians do… These properties are so large and chaotic that it's impossible to keep track of guests, or more importantly, unregistered guests. Ever-frugal Romanian students routinely take advantage of this situation by booking a double room and cramming in eight people for an extreme budget weekend at the beach. But you didn't hear that from me.

Popas Hanul Piratilor
Tel. +40 (0) 241 831 454
tent site 3 euros
2-room huts 8 euros
This is a simple campground 3km north of Mamaia’s northern limit. The huts are shabby, but there's an on-site cafe and stretches of fine sand nearby. Bus No 23 and maxitaxi 23E stop in front of it.

Hotel Turist
Tel. +40 (0) 241 831 006
B-dul Mamaia 288
Singles 32 euros
Doubles 41 euros
For those wanting the beach scene without the beach nightlife blaring through the walls, this is the place to go. It’s slightly off the main drag of Mamaia, about a 15-minute walk from the beach. Take bus No 40 from the train station.

Hotel Perla
Tel. +40 (0) 241 831 995
Singles 43 euros
Doubles 48 euros
Suites 75 euros
A landmark property sitting at Mamaia's main entrance. This place is busy, but efficiently run. Top-to-bottom renovations were done in 2006.
