Crisana and Banat Accommodations in Arad

Like Oradea, Arad is yet another gateway to Hungary. The city is situated in one of Romania's wine-making regions, on the banks of the Mures River, which loops around the city.

Arad was a major trading centre during Turkish occupation between 1551 and 1687. The main attraction here is elegant late-19th-century architecture in the city center, but they also have a fine theatre community.

Arad’s tourist attractions like the citadel (interior closed to visitors), the town hall and the history and art museums will only fill half a day (at best), but idle strolling and an evening show are strongly recommended. The annual Underground Theatre Festival (in May) is growing in popularity.
