Sinaia
Sinaia (pronounced 'see-NI-ya') itself is a bit quiet, but within immediate striking distance is King Carol I's Peles Castle and the Bucegi Mountains. Though most people zip into town from their base in Brasov, the area has many fine villas and hotels, some centuries old, though they are a bit spendy, even by Western Europe standards. Staying in town means easier access to the hiking, biking and skiing in Bucegi Mountains. A cable car brings people up the 2000 meter ascent, so people have still the strength to take a wander once up top. |
